If you’re a teen or young woman in L.A., the L.A. County Department of Public health wants you to “know” whether you have chlamydia or gonorrhea . Their new campaign, called “Don’t Think Know,” provides an at-home kit to test for sexually transmitted diseases, and offers free and confidential test results online or by phone. Experts recommend that every sexually active woman be tested at least once a year. The program’s web site, www.dontthinkknow.org, also helps women locate clinics that offer free and low-cost testing and treatment for STDs, and offers information about chlamydia and gonorrhea.
